Experience Level2/5
RemarksI was driving on a fairly level section of road, and the fireball appeared through the windshield to my left front - to the northwest, I'd say. It was very bright and although I have no way of knowing how far away it was, I later guessed it couldn't have been too many miles away or, scale-wise, it would have been truly gigantic. I was surprised at the size - far, far larger than the high streaks I associated with meteors. In fact, at first, I thought it was falling debris, as from an aircraft. I expected to hear a crash - my radio was off, the windows were up - but I heard nothing. Totally cool experience.
