Remarks | Bright fiery trail observed, moving nearly horizontal right to left. First seen just below the star Arcturus, and disappeared at a point below Dubhe (the Plough) close to the "pointer" line to Polaris. Hand span measurements suggest both ends were approximately 60 degrees above the horizon. Time was checked immediately afterwards and sighting estimated within a couple of seconds of midnight. |
