While observing stars in the constellation Cassiopia in the NE I noticed a VERY bright flash behind me. I turned round to see a streak roughly 15 deg of a decaying glow very near Altair. Seemed too bright for a meteor and material seemed to be spreading away from main streak!

Remarks
I was actually looking in the opposite direction when I was aware of a sudden bright flash behind me but when I turned the flash was over but I saw a decaying orange trail with "sparks" drifting away from it. I cant say for certain which way it was travelling but the track would be consistent with a radiant from Leo
