Remarksit has occurred to me that this may be a meteor with a shallow incoming angle OR a piece of space junk reentering the atmosphere and burning up. It was near a bright street light so it may be a bit brighter than I reported.

RemarksI noticed the object in the sky and wondered if it was the International Space Station, but I then saw one piece of it (of the meteor/fireball?) fragment off and a second later a second piece fragment off. Then it continued for several more seconds, dimmed and rapidly disappeared.
