My son Lance is the one that actually saw it and believed it to be a shooting star. When he brought me outside he described it as a giant fireball and it left at least a mile or two smoke trail. The trail was still present after 30 minutes in the sky.

Do remember hearing a sound but cannot describe it.
There was and still is at 11:27pm from the time the fireball came over to now you can still see a smoke trail.
Not sure what that is?? But did not see explosion.
