Observer
NameJohn L
Experience Level3/5
RemarksBright orange/gold with the entire fireball taking up about a 4" length my arms distance. I ran through my yard to keep eye contact with it until it disappeared well off to the east at about the horizon. I live on two acres with trees on the end of the property near the lake. It was bright enough and large enough for me to maintain visibility even through the trees. There is a half-moon tonight and clear skies. It is one of the two brightest objects I have ever seen moving through the sky with a very long tail. I have seen the Space Shuttle flying over years ago, and this was bigger, brighter and moved through the sky at about the same rate of speed, and it was moving very close to parallel to the horizon with a very slight downward angle.
